Rany Maulani Invites Residents Apply Clean and Healthy Lifestyle to Prevent HMPV

Jakarta City Council's Deputy Chairwoman, Rany Maulani invites residents to apply clean and healthy lifestyle in order to prevent the spread of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) virus.

We need to remind the residents

Rany said that Jakarta Health Agency needs to maintain the clean and health lifestyle socialization for residents. The socialization is assessed effective to gain the residents immunity and reduce the HMPV spread.

"We need to remind the residents about the clean and healthy lifestyle. There is no longer reminder since the COVID-19," she said, Monday (1/14).

Rany stated that massive socialization is effective to prevent the spread as it happened during the COVID-19 ago.

"The agency once said that the HMPV is not new virus. It like flu. But education still needs to be run to avoid panic," she added.

According to her, the socialization should includes the concrete steps taken by the residents.

"We need to know how to prevent it. If we get flu, do we need isolation, how long? Then if we get symptom, when is the right time to go to Emergency Unit or Community Health Center," she continued.

As for information, Jakarta Health Agency ensures that Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) caused by the HMPV virus has been handled well. In fact, the public is appealed to gain the vigilance and maintain their health.

Based on the data, there are 214 ISPA cases caused by HMPV during 2023 to January 2025 in Jakarta. In details are 13 cases in 2023, 121 cases in 2024, and 79 cases in 2025.
